The United Board of Missions of Port Arthur, Texas began as a small outreach in the mid 1960's with the intention of acting against the effects of poverty in Jefferson County, becoming an official entity in 1969. Originating as a small group of Christians planning and operating from a house to a large non-profit organization, serving numerous people in and around Jefferson County.
In 1967, the non-profit discovered 5 major social needs of the county that would prompt their first partnerships and actions. The establishments or programs that were created to meet these needs are still represented in today's operation of the United Board of Missions.
